Conversation Record — ACE Activation Gate Convergence

Project-owner direction

Continue improving IDKMesh while preserving substantive project work in the public repository.

Why this turn matters

The project entered a real consolidation cycle rather than creating more community automation. During the cycle, the ACE evidence stack materially converged:

Growth Seed #27 remains unfinished because simulator PR #44 was closed unmerged. Growth Seed #24 also remains open. They were not closed to make capacity metrics look better.

Capacity recovery observed

Earlier in the same continuation, live open-work pressure was approximately:

16 review-ready PRs
4 draft PRs
3 Growth Seeds
31 other open issues (capped at 20)
L ~= 20.5
Capacity ~= 0.00193

After real convergence/merges, Bootstrap Cohort Observatory #109 reported:

ACE review load: 5
ACE capacity: 0.817574476...
trusted seeds: 5
external participants: 0
bootstrap verified descendant PRs: 0
recommendation: HOLD_COHORT_1

This is evidence that the recoverable carrying-capacity model behaves qualitatively as intended:

integration debt decreases
  -> live pressure decreases
  -> capacity recovers

The recovery is not proof that the bootstrap coefficients are calibrated correctly, but it is a much healthier control property than irreversible historical load accumulation.

Crucial separation of concerns

Capacity recovery does not mean ACE should activate.

The external activation gate remains conjunctive:

observer
AND lineage
AND security
AND controller
AND real protected integration
AND real independently verified descendant evidence
AND healthy/fresh capacity
AND bounded write budget
AND forbidden capabilities disabled

At this point:

observer                 accepted
lineage                  accepted
security                 accepted
controller               accepted
review capacity healthy in the current snapshot
integration protection blocked: main publicly unprotected
verified descendants      0

Therefore the correct decision remains:

BLOCK / SHADOW

but the blockers have changed for the right reason. Capacity is no longer the limiting factor; missing external protection and missing real descendant evidence are.

Activation-gate update

PR #89’s old fixture described the pre-convergence repository and used the obsolete low-capacity historical snapshot. This continuation updates the fixture/documentation/tests so that:

Safety conclusion

A useful self-improving system must be able to distinguish:

ability to absorb more work != permission to act
successful infrastructure merge != community reproduction
raw repository activity != verified descendant evidence
configuration/documentation      != GitHub branch protection

No autonomous merge, secret access, governance mutation, untrusted privileged execution, mass notification, or stronger Phase-B actuator was enabled in this turn.
