Status: proposal / systems audit, not a claim of literal omniscience
The project owner asked for an audit from a metaphorical “God’s-eye” perspective: look across the past, present, possible futures, the whole system, and the consequences of local choices rather than optimizing one file, issue, agent, or metric.
This document uses that request as a whole-system and long-horizon systems-engineering lens. It does not claim knowledge of the actual future. Its purpose is to identify the bottleneck that remains important across the largest number of plausible futures.
IDKMesh is no longer primarily constrained by missing ideas, formulas, workflows, or internal artifacts.
Its most important scarce resource is now independent contact with reality.
Three high-priority surfaces show the same pattern:

The next phase should not maximize the left side. It should deliberately increase the right side.
A high-impact IDKMesh claim should not move from internally coherent to externally trusted unless at least one meaningful evidence edge crosses a boundary not controlled by the proposer/controller.

This connects several disciplines already used by IDKMesh:
For high-impact capability claims, define four normalized evidence dimensions:
I — internal executable evidence;W — independent witness evidence;G — externally enforced governance/security boundary;U — evidence of usefulness outside the system that produced the artifact.A conservative maturity model is:

This is intentionally a weakest-link model rather than a weighted average.
Why?
A very high internal test score should not compensate for zero independent review. A large community-growth credit should not compensate for zero external contributors. Extensive governance documentation should not compensate for main being unprotected. A hundred internally generated claims should not compensate for zero held-out or external observations.
The exact dimensions and thresholds are hypotheses, but the non-compensatory structure is the important part.

Issue #35 correctly identifies this as an external repository-admin action. Repository code cannot prove the existence of a GitHub rule that does not exist.

ACE capacity: ~0.8
This is an important result, not a failure to hide.
ACE has demonstrated homeostasis: review capacity can recover when integration pressure falls. It has not yet demonstrated community reproduction.
PR #91’s exact head has controlled runtime evidence and exact-head CI, but it remains draft because the project correctly refuses to call same-owner automation “independent review.”
That is a valuable governance invariant.
The project could become extremely sophisticated at validating artifacts produced by its own ecosystem while remaining weakly exposed to outside users, reviewers, task distributions, and failure modes.
This is the most subtle long-term risk because internal quality can keep increasing while external relevance stays near zero.
The repository already contains many workflows, research tracks, schemas, mathematical mechanisms, and public records. Every additional mechanism increases the context required to evaluate the next one.
If external participants remain near zero, complexity becomes a tax paid almost entirely by one maintainer plus automation.
Many agents, workflows, branches, or repeated checks can look like diversity while sharing the same owner, model family, task assumptions, repository context, or decision authority.
The project must measure failure-domain independence, not count process instances.
Repository-side code is approaching stronger autonomy faster than external GitHub protection and human role distribution.
The correct response is not to weaken the safety gate. It is to finish the external boundary.
IDKMesh can indefinitely generate excellent experiments without shipping one tiny, repeatable product loop outsiders can run and understand.
The Verified Swarm Runner v0.1 remains the best forcing function against this risk.
A community-growth algorithm cannot substitute for actual people choosing to participate, understand a task, contribute, receive useful review, and return.
The system should never infer community success from owner/bot activity.
ACE event counts already demonstrate how easy it is for repository activity to become large. The existing anti-Goodhart rule is correct: commits, PRs, issues, comments, stars, and workflow events are signals, not objectives.
Until meaningful independent external evidence exists, IDKMesh should operate in a deliberate FIRST_CONTACT posture.
This is not a permanent project mode and does not require a new autonomous controller. It is a prioritization rule.
Any two of these are true:
At this audit, more than two are true.
In order:
main in GitHub settings. This is owner/admin action and cannot be simulated in repository files.A first reasonable exit condition could require all of:
main is externally protected
AND at least one independent review exists on the product-critical path
AND at least one external participant produces a verified useful descendant
AND the public newcomer path has one recent outside observation
These thresholds are intentionally small. The goal is not “large community” yet. It is proof that the system can cross its own boundary.
While FIRST_CONTACT is active, a new architecture/research/automation artifact should be P0/P1 only if it does at least one of:

This is a temporary complexity budget, not hostility to research.
The repository already contains useful ideas from optimization, information theory, evolutionary dynamics, queueing, statistical physics, game theory, graph theory, robust statistics, distributed systems, cryptography, and control theory.
The marginal value of algorithm number N+1 is now lower than the marginal value of one credible observation from outside the self-generated loop.
In information-theoretic terms, the project should seek observations with high expected information gain and low correlation with its existing evidence.
An independent newcomer who becomes confused in minute 4 may provide more actionable information than another 20-page internal architecture document.
An external reviewer who finds one hidden assumption in PR #91 may provide more epistemic value than ten additional same-context automated checks.
A protected branch may provide more real governance than another governance paragraph.
This audit proposes one small repository change rather than a new subsystem:
Replace the stale five-item “bounded task right now” list with:
Clearly mark #25/#26/#28 as completed bootstrap examples rather than available work.
Also state the current reality directly:

That is evidence, not embarrassment.
This improves correspondence between repository state and newcomer-visible state without creating new community workload.

Only after this chain has external evidence should the project substantially increase autonomy, federation, or community reproduction.
This audit should itself be falsifiable.
The External Witness / First Contact hypothesis is weakened if the project can show that additional internal mechanism development produces more verified external usefulness per unit of maintainer attention than direct investment in external review/onboarding/product completion.
Measure, do not protect the idea from evidence.
IDKMesh’s next frontier is not another layer of intelligence inside the mesh.
It is the membrane between the mesh and the world.
The project should now optimize that membrane: make it easy for independent people, independent evaluators, externally enforced governance, and real tasks to push information into the system that the system could not have generated by talking to itself.
That is the next step toward collective intelligence that is not merely internally coherent, but externally grounded.
